HARDWICK, Vt. -- Raymond E. Kimball died unexpectedly on Nov. 25, 2007.
Raymond lived in Winslow, Maine, for more than 40 years with his wife,
Nita.
He was born in Parkman, Maine, on June 1, 1932, and graduated from Morse
Memorial High School and then from the University of Maine of Orono. He
was employed by the Farmers Home Administration for 29 years working in
Newport, Augusta, and Waterville, all in Maine.
Ray was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Nita Deering Kimball.
He is survived by his five children, Crystal Poppiti and her husband,
Carl, of Victorville, Calif., Boyd Kimball of Augusta, Maine, Marla
Morgan and her husband, Charles, of Gardiner, Maine, Tod Kimball and his
wife, Amy, of Hardwick, and Douglass Kimball and his wife, Joanna, of
Plaistow, N.H.; and his grandchildren, Carie Poppiti, Sarah Morgan,
Elliott and Emily Kimball, Meriwether, Honour, Tabitha, and Zuzu
Kimball.
For many years, Ray was a dedicated volunteer for Pine Tree Council --
Boy Scouts of America. He received the distinguished Silver Beaver Award
for his service to youth in the community. He also served as District
Commissioner.
He retired as a captain in the National Guard after serving for 21
years. He also was a proud volunteer for MaineGeneral Medical Center on
the Seton Rehabilitation Unit for 51/2 years, where he made many
friends.
During the last five years of his life, Raymond lived with his son Tod,
his wife Amy, and their two young children. Dad enjoyed being part of
their family and appreciated the activity of young children underfoot.
