WINSLOW -- Roger Carlton Ormsby,
of Winslow, passed away following a long illness on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007
at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y.
on May 22, 1937, the son of the late Archie and Mary (Cassavaugh)
Ormsby. Roger served with the U.S. Air Force and retired with 20 years
of service. He served during the Vietnam era and was honorably
discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
On June 17, 1961, he married the former Rhoda
Cumm and they shared 46 years together. In 1975, following his military
career, they moved to Maine. Roger was quite an entrepreneur who dabbled
in many endeavors. He enjoyed making and selling jewelry and other items
over the years. He was involved with many worthwhile organizations,
including the VFW Mac Crillis-Rousseau Post 8835 in Winslow, Winslow
Lions Club, Winslow Boy Scout Troop 433, Friends of Fort Halifax, Meals
on Wheels. He also was an avid bowler for many years. Roger was a very
caring man who enjoyed helping anyone in need.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by
his four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda,
as well as many nieces and nephews.
At his request, there will be no public
services here in Maine. Interment will be in New York.
